Vanessa is an East Coast Canadian photographer who came to her creative path after a 30-year career in education. Her years in the classroom shaped a keen eye for detail and observation, skills that now guide her image-making.. After retiring from teaching, she returned to school to study photography at the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design, where a long-standing interest quickly grew into a passion. Her work explores landscapes, the expressive movement of Intentional Camera Movement (ICM), and the layered storytelling of Multiple Exposure (ME). Vanessa continues to learn through workshops and lectures, studying with photographers such as Freeman Patterson, Stephanie Johnson, Renee Lynn, and Richard Martin. She held her first solo exhibition, The Other Side of Fredericton, in 2019, followed by a second exhibition in 2022. In 2023, she was named Photographer of the Year by her photo club. Her work has been featured in the online gallery catalog of The Photo Gallery in Vermont and, in 2024, she was invited to exhibit at ViewPoint Gallery in Nova Scotia. Through her lens, Vanessa captures more than images, she captures feeling, atmosphere, and fleeting moments, inviting viewers to see the world from her perspective.
